Welcome to Pickleball

in the village of Washago, Ontario

We are a dedicated group of enthusiasts who play pickleball in Washago, Ontario. Our four courts are located in the outdoor hockey rink at the community centre on Hamilton Street. Our players are mostly from the Township of Severn, but we also host players from Orillia, Gravenhurst, and as far away as Barrie. Playing here features a good level of competition, laughter, friendship, and being good sports about everything. Winning is only part of having a good game. Pickleball is a very enjoyable way to maintain an active lifestyle.  The sport brings people together. The small court creates a cosy atmosphere where players can socialize and interact, while enjoying the  friendly competition. The camaraderie within pickleball is every bit as valued as the exercise. Our players enjoy many of the other activities offered in Washago, as well as the restaurants and village shopping opportunities. Whether on the courts, or socializing, our people always seem to be laughing and having a good time. Join us! As you know, your directors have been in communication with Severn Township about opening the courts in Washago under COVID-19 restrictions. Unfortunately, until the washrooms are available, we cannot open for club play. If this changes, Glen H will advise by email and on this site. Severn has advised us that the rink will be closed the 3rd week of September so contractors can replace the boards for hockey season. Further, Pickleball Ontario has indicated in a recent communication that if social distancing is not adhered to (singles play) our Pickleball Canada insurance would be null and void. Policing the courts at all times of play is untenable. Consequently, Washago Pickleball Club will not be organizing at the Washago courts until the Ontario government and Pickleball Ontario advise us that doubles play and larger groups are permissible.
